now clogging the internet elsewhere

04 May 2006

Sort of makes me wish that the guy I went to prom with senior year hadn't brought his boyfriend with him when he asked me.

It's pretty rare for me to miss high school- the drama, the funny smelling hallways, the working your ass off all the time because you MUST get into a good college- who needs it? But today as I was driving to school down Lake Shore Drive I got a little nostalgic as I drove by a series of signs, placed about 50 yards apart, that said: Will You Go to Prom With me Olivia? And there, standing next to the "Olivia" sign, was the hopeful asker, dressed in a blue blazer and a hopeful embarassed smile, watching hundreds of cars speed by on their way to work, waiting for his best girl to drive by.

You went to prom with a gay guy too? Now I know why we're friends :)

Holy crap that's awesome! So,my husband volunters for 826CHI and they are throwing a mock prom for their volunteers. We get to go (fun) and he's been talking and talking about it until last night I finally said, "You know, you still haven't OFFICIALLY asked me to go with you." And we were thinking of all the stereotypical ways in which HS boys ask their dates. Never thought of that one. Damn, he's gonna get lucky prom night man.

Too bad my name isn't Olivia.

(Thanks for visiting my site BTW!)

Oh my gosh I volunteer at 826 CHI too! But I don't think we're going to make it to the prom, sadly. Stupid exams. What a coincidence.

You volunteer at 826Chi? Didn't it just open? You are hipper than hip!

Also, I'd bet $20 that that kid on the Drive went to my high school. People did shit like that ALL the time there...

This is, like, super crazy. My husband volunteers there on Monday nights and his name is Bryan. He is coordinating the photo committee for prom. How crazy. You didn't volunteer at Excel Academy on March 2nd did you? Because we were both there and that would be spooky.

It's nice to read a blog based in Chicago. Makes me feel like less of an outsider. Everyone is in NYC or Cali.

Too bad you won't be at prom! We could rock out to bad 80's music and spike the punch!

I volunteer on Tuesdays, so I don't know if I've met Bryan- but that is so small world. I was not at Excel Academy, sadly, though I was supposed to me- wires got crossed. Very funny, these near-misses. You're making me reconsider the prom, too- it would be fun to meet people...

I like having found another Chicago blog to read, too- all the Cali blogs I read are my old friends from when I lived there and it makes me feel all nostalgic. Good to have some balance.

I'm all about the peer pressure, and really, isn't that what Prom is all about?

All the cool kids are doing it!

C'mon, bust out an old bridesmaid dress and GO!
