Is it a compliment or an insult when your professor says to you: "I totally see you as a k.d. lang type!"
I'm thinking insult. But she said it with such enthusiasm, I can't be sure.

oh, but then people wouldn't readily admit they think you're cool. So maybe not :)
well, she's very soulful. is a great singer. knows a lot of famous people.

better than "oh i see you as a current NKOTB fan" or "hey, you like milli vanilli, right?"
see? could always be worse.
